I live near Columbus, and have been having some trouble with a couple of my radios. Looking to find a reliable repair shop that isn't going to rip me off, or ruin my radio by claiming some hack job as a repair. Any personal experiences/recommendations are welcome.
Also, what online retailers are best to order CB equipment from? I have heard a lot about which ones to avoid like a plague, but not as much about the ones that are truly reliable. I see a lot of people mention Copper Electronics, any positive experiences with them?

I had a Cobra 29 tweaked at a place called Shark's CB Shop. It was on Harmon Road just south of downtown Columbus. I think the guy who worked on my outfit was called Grasshopper. I was very pleased with the work and got a lot of compliments on my sound quality. If they are still in operation they broadcast on 19 for customers. I think they might be called Teddy Bear's CB Shop now. There is also a CB shop west of Columbus just off 70 but I'm not sure of his name. He broadcasts on 19 as well. Of course if you want the best in amature radio then Universal Radio out east (Pickerington I think) would be the best. They have a very nice website.

CB radios one problem is even the factory repair centers are iffy ....
REMEMBER BY FCC RULES if they repair a radio it must be done to factory spects ....... right .....I'll bet many come back with illegal mods in tact.
No harm in contacting them. -
Thanks for the info on Copper Electronics, now I know I'm good to go if I want to get anything from them.
I've heard of this Grasshopper fella from other people in my area. I didn't know where to find him. Thanks for the intel. I appreciate your help. -
I have used the guy on I-70 out at exit 80 (Rte. 29). Have had him rewire a mic for me, got some Francis antennas. Bench checked my radio. He seems pretty fair and honest.
I also used the guy out at the TA in Hebron. But a friend of mine that used him said he may be off his game. If he is even still there. My friend has a General Lee that was set up by the guy next to the Pilot out there. It sounds good and he was happy with his service.
I have heard people using Dale's CB shop on the corner of Wilson Rd. and Fisher Rd. (just down from the Pilot on the west side). But he has no truck parking available. And I'm not too familiar with his work. -
