Hey guys. I have a stryker 440 in my 06 ford F350. It was hooked to a set of willson 2000 mirror mount antennas. Because of everything i've heard about the power being split between the two antennas i've recently switched it to the one trucker 2000. I ran new wilson coax and new mount and stud. I also made a ground wire and ran it from the stud to the body of the truck. similar to the wilson floating ground but instead of leaving the one end unhooked i ran it to the body. The reason i did this is because the mount is on a plastic mirror. Now i cannot get my swr reading below 3. I know the best thing to do is run a magnet mount but this used to be a talking s.o.b the way it was set up. Now it wont talk more than 20ft. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try running a ground to the battery. some have had better results doing this rather then the body. Also might have gotten a hold of some bad coax. Mass production has a way of putting out a bad apple from time to time.

The Wilson floating ground is a 102" insulated wire with the end floating.
It also uses a special mount.

I would just mount it a 102" whip in the center of the toolbox in the bed but that is just me

Thanks for the help guys. Powder joints my ground wire is hooked to bottom of the stud were the coax screws on. Im i still shorting it out down there? I know if you hook it up at the antenna its a dead short. Also my brackit is aluminum. from what i've been told hooking a ground to one of the bolts wont work so well because aluminum is not a good conductor of DC current. Thanks again for the help guys, ths has been driving me basurk!
