I just don't buy this tune it stuff ..... even if you could get 12 watts out it would only be good for ONE "S" unit if you really feel the need for more power get a amp ..... -
Well not the answer i was looking for...i just want to know is any of them other 25's the same board as mine?
don't want a amp i have 4 now, this is going in a tractor room is very limited, any help would be appreciated. -
This transistor is no longer made ( fair warning ) -
Just go to a CB shop. The boards are the same as other 25's. In fact you can read some of the CB forums. I read they can do more with a 25 than a 29. I have a 25 NW LTD Classic as a back up radio. I had it peaked and tuned and it now puts out 30 watts. He showed me while it was on the bench. Good little radio.

One reason the FCC said all CB's should be 4 watts is so everyone was on the same level and have their own area of coverage. Two truckers talking together weren't rudely walked over by a big radio 5 miles away that can't even hear them. But big radio's must be heard. Makes me wonder if they are face to face talking with 10 people if they yell to be heard
You can take a TV to a shop and they can tune them also for a much better picture. Factory lines do quick tunes that pass general specs. When a piece of equipment gets individual attention, the specs can be put right on the money to get the most out of what you have with no modifications. -
Are you talking 30 watts PEP ( 7.5 real watts ) on a 2SC1969 ?
Also if this radio is using a 2SC1969 30 watts PEP would come close to cooking it ......Now some newer radios have gone to the FETS they will do more but you still have to get rid of the HEAT .... or you will cook them too...... -
The tech had it on the bench and did some radio checks. He said wow, this one puts out 30 watts. I looked but didn't look at the needle. I'm not much on big radio's. I read that CB's forum advice on a 25 and I gave it a try.
I used it a couple days and then I come across a Galaxy 959 with an Astatic mic for $60. That's what I use now. The Cobra is a backup. -

My FT-620 which i bought in 1976 used a 2SC1307 the REPLACEMENT was a 2SC1969 when it quite in 2000 after 25 years on the air ..... NOW they don't make the 1969
So be careful I understand from another HAM he bought 1969's on E-Bay ( CHINA ? ) for his older radio and they almost did not work .. at best poorly worked he had to scrouge one out of a junk radio to get his vintage radio back working.
HEAT KILLS TRANSISTORS keep them cool they will love you ...
