Re: Magnum s-3

Ummm yea , I hardly think you have to worry about anyone takin yer radio away . . .
If they took yours , they would have to take about 40 million other radios away too . . .
Ya got the cops and DOT in and out of yer truck all the time .
Nuthin ever happends.
Maybe every once in a million years ya get some guy with a stick up his *** , lookin to make captain overnight.
But the feds are just a lil too buzy right now to be dealing with yout loud ardio , that's no more louder than the next guys loud radio . . .

Re: Magnum s-3

You better believe it, sir. Just ask our ham guys. First, the FCC will send a letter to the owner of the truck. After that, the fines come out.

So what you are really saying is that 4 watts can come across the same distance as 50 watts?
Yes, with a good antenna that's installed properly. And, you're likely to hear the 50 watt guy on EVERY CB channel, which is annoying as hell.

one of my budies just bought a magnum ,he had a freedom ranger in his truck before,I talk to him everyday and hear him further than the freedom ranger he had before. We have compared the two radios, the magnum is much quieter and hears alot farthur than the ranger,it also talks furthur, same antenna also on both times of testing. like corey says the blue lights are pretty, but, you have to dim them as they light up the whole cab. there is also a magnum with lighted dials but, really, too much on your eyes.

Guy I know was DOT'd in Kansas last summer, and they ran a drug dog thru his truck as a random check. While there the officer pointed out his radio was illegal, and needed to get rid of it. He left it as a verbal. Depends where you go. They randomly crack down on slack adjustments, lights, tires etc. More noise some of you guys make, the more attention you bring to us all. People really wouldnt say much if people stayed on the 40, turned off the gawd dang noise toys and echo, and cleaned up the language. Its a glorified walkie talkie, and not a redneck telephone, lol. Fact is though too many shops are making boxes into 40 channel noise bleeders, with stupid beeps and sounds, and echo cranked way too high, but it sounds good on their talkback!, and way too much power to talk across the street. Fact is, doesnt matter if your pushing 50w or 400w, it doesnt get thru any better in the air when its congested. Everyone is running echo cranked up, and all you get is minute long squeal sessions. Everyone is pushing too much power, and therefore carries further then designed, over modulating that is, and it makes a total mess. Ive come to the conclussion my big radio doesnt really help much, but adds to the chaos instead. Thats why Im going to be switching to a different setup, soon as I figure out which radio for sure Im going with. Your connex is a nice radio Im sure rubberman, thats what you run, as I recall, however, throwing all them watts out in a very small channel range only makes it all worse. Theres reasons the FCC limited CB's the way they did. If you want to talk DX, go ham, and clean up. If you wanna talk to the local gentry and bs, great, more power to you on 11m, however, I dont need to hear about it 2 counties away, lol. If you drove truck, you would understand what Im saying. Sorry for the rant, needed to get that off my chest!
