I am looking to replace my companies cheap stock cb radio whichis a Uniden PC-68XL and it has very poor range do to it being a cheap cb. I was looking to upgrade to a cb where I would have the weather bands, the backlight face plate, and a way to fine tune the cb to my truck (SWR) meter on it. I was looking at buying a Cobra 29 WX NW BT but from the reviews I was looking at the bluetooth part doesn't seem to work the best. I have a verison phone and its a Casio Rock its less than a year old so I would think it would work well. My other option I was looking to buy would be the Cobra 29 WX NW ST. Do any of you have the new Bluetooth cb radio? How is it for talking as the bluetooth, do you have to hold the mic, and can others hear you clearly? Do you like the cb overall? I have read that the back light is too bright and most people get the led's turned down, how much would that cost? Is the Cobra 29 WX NW ST a good radio for the money as well, and if you had to choose which one would you buy today? Thank you all in advance, I would just like my information from other truck drivers over the 4-wheelers.

The PC68 is a perfectly good radio, so don't go blaming your poor range on it. Do some reading on your antenna system and address your problems before spending money on another radio you're not going to be happy with.

That Uniden you have there is a nice little radio. If you're not getting out correctly with it, send it to Sparky's CB Shack to be looked at. Also, check your antenna system. It doens't matter what radio you install if your antenna system is not setup up properly.

Only problem is exactly what Josh.c said.....thats a fine radio. And dang near identical to the Cobra 29 to say the least. check your antenna system first.

    Buzzard and josh.c Thank this.

Well, before this thread strays off into a CB/antenna troubleshooting discussion, I also have been seriously considering buying this exact radio. I haven't seen any bad reviews, though. Where might these bad reviews be?

I think that a Cobra 29, with Bluetooth, Weather, and Nightwatch is a great bunch of features wrapped up in one radio. And it also has talkback to boot. Does anyone out there have this radio in their rig? And how do you like it?

I love it...the nightwatch blows away standard nightwatch with the silver face (where the whole face glows) and only the letters glow while the face is black. Awesome. WX is nice, my first radio with WX and I like it.

Bluetooth feature is nice. My opinion is slightly biased because I have Nextel for phone service and use the direct connect function a lot. I love the BT feature while using the PHONE. It's awesome, superior clarity on both ends, much better than a stupid thing in your ear. I just have a hard time holding the mic, keying the "walkie talkie" button for the Nextel, and driving lol. And the phone pairs automatically once you do it the first time, so I have to manually disconnect the 2 if I dont want them paired.

Like I said, awesome feature, works really well. Just not with nextel where you have to key the phone up and hold the mic at the same time! I did, however, figure out how do do it with 1 hand lol.

I agree with everyone else here on the Uniden 68...Basically same as the Cobra's. Sounds more like a antenna problem than a radio problem as for the hearing go's...Or coax problem.

Well, I did it. I pulled the trigger and ordered one for myself! I called Sparky's CB Shack and told him to send me one. He said he'd have it all peaked and tuned and sent out this afternoon. I should have it by Friday!
