| Here is a question. I am wanting to mount a cb in my personal pickup. I have a stick type antenna, so does this type have to be grounded for it to work properly or should it not be grounded to the vehicle? |

| I used to have a CB installed in my old SUV with a magnetic mount. I now have the CB, a radio shack version, that sits in my chair. I am trying to get it working but need to recalibrate it. Hunter

| Unless you got a "no ground plane" antenna (which I doubt), you need it grounded. Whether it is directly through the mount or using a wire. |

The antenna itself (or the center wire of the coax cable connected to it) should under no circumstances touch ground. On the other hand, the outer mesh of the coax cable has to be grounded as close as possible to the antenna mount to the metal surface this antenna mount is installed in (in most cases the antenna mount and the socket on it provide the ground connection).
