RF Gain should be wide open. This allows the far away signals to be heard. Use the squelch to tune out the white noise.

RF Power should be ran normally around the med. position. This allows the radio to have more swing. Swing is what helps you to be heard with good sounding audio. Low setting is used for running an amp. Hi will make radio run hotter. No matter what setting you have the RF Power on the radio will still run at full power. This control controls the Carrier power not swing power.

Band selector high and low and the letters make it so you can select cb frequency's or 10 meter frequency's. Find the combined settings on these two that allow you to run on CB frequency's and leave it alone. Your most likely not licensed to be on 10 meters.

NB/ANL or Off: This is a filtering switch. Put it on NB/ANL and it will help filter out extra noise made by your engine and light and computers on board. Also will help with the harshness of the white noise.
