CB noise. well more like interference, when ever my XM ROADY2 is plugged in it causes static across all channels. Does not matter where in the truck it is plugged in, and does not matter if the radio is switched on or not. This static mixes with the other audio on the channels and distorts the ability to hear transmissions by other drivers. There is also a noticable difference in where the needle on the signal indicator sits. It is right on the edge on the green/red on all channels with the XM plugged in and with it not plugged in it sits 1/4 an inch closer to the left or about 1/2 way in the window. K

Re: CB noise. so this is normal, as far as satelite radios are concerned? One thing I heard was XM just won some major battle with FCC over some sort of interference, but I thought this had more to do with the FM transmitter that is build in being too powerful? I used to liosten to my xm at work, when I had a regular job, would transmit 100feet and into a building and I could pick it up on the stereo. See I use my XM with a direct wire to the cd player in the truck. K PS, I hope satelite is here to stay, cause as a driver there is nothing better.

Re: CB noise. no, this is not normal. i had several opportunities to drive a fellow workers truck, and he had satelite radio. there never was any "static" or other types of noises. make sure you check the connections at the alternator. make sure those connections are CLEAN & TIGHT. sometimes, a bad connection there can cause problems. make sure any ground strap from the engine to frame are CLEAN & TIGHT as well. you claim you "plug in" your satilite radio, where, the cigarette lighter....?? if so, make sure that is properly grounded as well. most lighter plugs only have the "hot wire" and then the socket grounds itself to the dashboard. that can be a loose fitting there, as i personally have witnessed that too. electrical "interference" can have many causes, and poor or bad grounds are the first i would check.

Re: CB noise. Well I dont know if this helps any further... Used a spare socket i had around to hook up a cig lighter socket to my inverter, which is directly wired to the battery then a direct frame ground. Still has interference, but only when unit is pluged in. unit does not have to be on, only powered up. no interference from adapter alone either, adapter has to be pluged in and radio to it. Wonder if my particular XM unit is on the way out. OR is the COBRA25 is EXTRA sensitive to interference, as this radio has the "motor hum" caused by IDK....i tried to eliminate that by grounding CB directly to the frame, but still same hum. I have yet to pick up those little filters at radio shack yet. I have seen these in T/S's before but could not find them at radio shak, anyone know the true name of these things. You put them on the power in lines and it helps reduce interference noise on audio devices. K

Re: CB noise. Had the same problem. Theres a transformer in the ciggy lighter plug, to step the voltage down from 12v to 6v. Made alot of noise anytime it was plugged in, regardless if the roady was on or not. Went to sirius, and no problems with it. Dunno if the other XM or Sirius units do it, but my Roady made alot of noise, and the Sirius streamer replay I have doesnt.

| Re: CB noise. I've been reading that satellite radio signals are appearing through interference on the lower FM frequencies, those you have to turn the AM/FM to to make the satellite radio work. In other words, someone listening to National Palestinian Radio may be picking up Howard Stern due to bleedover from a nearby car's satellite radio.
