I have read back and forth the good bad and ugly comments about all the companies out here...It seems most people are saying that AL # Sparky's tunes and peaks a radio proper...I am just going off other posts, is this the best place to get this style radio tuned up? I just want to make sure I am throwing my money in the right direction, so that I do not get a well oiled peice o' crap! Opinions?

I myself used to sing Sparkys highest praise, That is until I was burnt a couple times as were a few people I sent his way. It really sucks but many dedicated customers and long time members of his own board now refuse to do business with him. I really hope he can get back to his roots and turn this around. I have been doing alot of business with Doug at http://customcbradios.com/Default.aspx as well as sending customers his way. I recommend you give him a call. Good luck.

I have gone to the Blackout list for cb'ers, and read up on some shaddy practices. I have looked at GIjoes, RadioActive, Sparkeys, Wolcott, bigmouthcb and more. Bigmouth had the best pricing, but not the hottest website. I was going to get it from my local area shop, Signal Communications in Chesapeake, but I had them tune/peak my Galaxy 959 which is approx 7-8 years old and I am not sure whether it has the more modern mossfetthen the 1969 finals (I read that somewhere). Now my Talkback only works intermidently, so I am a skeptic of my local branch...as well as thier Stryker costs were 35-60 dollars higher then the names above....help me out those who know

I would buy it from where ever you choose and send it to either Doug at custom or send it to bells cb and have them do your work. Also why does it have to be a Stryker other than the flashy lights and stuff what's the attraction to them? Just curious cause a few local guys here want to trade their 440 for my Galaxy 33...one just said he didn't like them the other I just didn't ask. I think you would be happier with a nice Galaxy,Connex or a Ranger over time those radios have more than proved their durability...just a thought. Again I don't own one but don't see allot of drivers with them or talking about them one guy I work with has one with a channel selector gone bad and no one around here will touch it. Something to think about before you buy it? Where can I bring it to get it fixed in case?

The best advice I can give is
to give him a call and ask the questions important to you and make your decision from there.
Good luck on your new radio from where ever you choose to buy it. -
I had a 447 from Doug all done up. It was a great radio it had a 2 watt deadkey and pep was 92 watts or so. I worked great. Only complaint I didn't like was the lights was too bright. Some say they have a dimmer button built into the color change button by holding it. Mine didn't. I think they 497 does or the newest 447 do. The recieve was the best I ever had in a radio. Everyone said it sounded great but when I talk to thers now on my old 25 cobra I don't care for the sound I was recieving from them but Doug didn't build those radios either. One came from sparkys and the other was from the people that do the wack pack. It sounded the worst of the to I have heard. I had mine for about 6 months and sold it. Not because it wasn't a great radio but because I had to share a truck with 23 other drivers and they didn't know how to operate it. Now I only share with 4 and am hopping to buy a old Galaxy 93. I myself like the sound comming from Galaxy radios so I want to try another.

You are welcome. I hope you are as happy with it as I have been with the radios I have bought from Doug. Be shure to post your thoughts after you make the install and use it a bit.

A real good place to check out is http://www.bobscb.com. I have never heard anything bad about him. I have had a few radios tuned there and never had a problem. He knows his stuff and will not steer you in the wrong direction. He is on I-80 Exit 70 in Pa.
