Re: New RK-56 or Astatic Mic

I've had my Astatic for 9 years. I replaced the 9v battery twice and the cord once!

Depends on the radio...I was told both the RK and the Astatic "work" differently and each is better suited to specific radios...

I run an Astatic on my 4600...it sounds better than my RK56 that it replaced...

I run a RK56 on my 3300HP and my modded Cobra29, it sounds better on these two radios than the 4600...

It depends on the radio you want to install it on...

Which one has better noise cancelling abilities? My roadking is picking up feedback like crazy from the talkback and my talkback is quiet. I thought it was the KW speaker right next to my head so I bought another external and no matter where I put it other than in the bunk I get feedback. Right now it's hanging on the glovebox with two shirts hanging on it to cover it up and it will still ocasionally get a little squeel going
