LOL Is it really that bad? I don't know a thing about this radio and it was given to me. I thought it sounded ok when I hooked it up and I swear I read 45 watts somewhere on the net but obviously was mistaken on that point. Maybe it was the heavy narcotics I was taking at the time for a bulging disc pinching a nerve in my back. lol
Anyone that DOES know anything about this radio please enlighten me!

IF it has a FCC ID number on the ID tag it is going to run 4 watts

Maxon used to make VHF and UHF commercial (land mobile) radios that put out 40 to 45 watts. The last series was the SM4450 and SM4150. We sold a bunch of those for our mobile phone system (pre-cellular) and local police & fire. Earlier they had a 4-channel 30 watt diode synthesized version, think it was SM3010, and before that a 4-channel crystal-controlled version of their handhelds, IIRC it was a CM-4010.
The SM4450 has a kinda similar model number to what'cha got there, so it's possible that a web search found that radio's specs and it got confused with the CB version.
Maxon eventually got absorbed by (I think) Midland, who pared off the less popular models and kept just a few handheld models in their inventory, plus the CB line.
    Hope that helps,

Maxon also manufactured the Emperor TS-5010/Shogun "10 Meter Radio", They were marketed toward to CB/Freeband crowd but perform excellent on 10 meters. These were a very close relative of the Uniden/President HR-2510/2600/Lincoln/2830 series and the Realistic HTX-100 10 meter radio. It was also sold by Midland under their Alan label, mainly in Europe, though, several cases made their way to the USA.
