Years ago I was talking to an old dairy farmer about his tractor. Whenever it got stuck in the mud he would leave it idling until the mud dried enough to drive it out. It was about 50 years old in the 60's - and really hard to start.
I asked him about running it so long idling. He pointed to the oil well pumps running in the distance and said "There are only so many horses in a motor. You can take'em out as fast as you can or just a little at a time. You take yours out as fast as you can. The motor in that hot rod of yours aint gonna last very long. If you take'em out a little at a time they will last for years and years and years."
The same goes true for electronics. Use a reasonable amount of power and run'em cool and they will last. Run'em at the edge, hot'ern hell and they aren't gonna last very long.
Course I guess long could be subjective or objective. Different things to different people. Some people won't keep a radio long enough to give it a long-term endurance evaluation.
And we always have to remember that there are exceptions to everything.

ONCE YOU TEAR INTO A RADIO its hard to patch it up ....
Now if you already have blown finals go for it ..... -
I put the RFX-75 in my galaxy pluto "set up as an 88" but I was told when I getting my radio fix (cause it wasn't working) that my finals were worn and would need replacing sooner than later, so the C.B. radio store in Ontario, Ca., offer me to put the RFX-75 for $100.00 and matched the radio to it. let me tell you, it has been the best well spent money I've put into that radio and I get compliments EVERY day on that radio telling me how CRYSTAL CLEAR it is and I only run the MIC in the middle. BTW, I run a turner RK-56 and a Wilson 1000 with it.

But just don't try to wring every milliwatt you can out of it. Keep it in cruise not in afterburner.
