    To be a classic

    1) it had to set some standard which others still try and meet.

    2) It was made in limited numbers

Not by the hundreds of thousands with many other radios almost like them.

REAL Classics Like this radio ....

LITTLE LULU built by Whippany Labs

    Date 1962 about 250 of them made…

One of the better 6 meter AM rigs ever produced ONLY 6 matching receivers were made THEY ARE ALL Accounted for …..

Ok well I don't consider it a classic. Not anymore than 2003 Chevy S-10 because they don't make those anymore either.

But I'm willing to sell said radio for $60 to the first person who wants to keep it from being modded because it's a classic...$60 do i have any takers?

The watt rating on a resistor is how much power it can take before it pops and/or melts. Going bigger than is called for in the instructions is fine - going smaller is not.

So, to answer your question, using a 1/2 watt resistor in place of a 1/4 watt resistor is just fine.

Going the other way, if it called for a 1/2 watt resistor, using a 1/4 watt resistor would end up with parts releasing the magic smoke that makes them work - and it's real hard to put that smoke back in once it's been released :biggrin_2556:

i have a Galaxy 88 that i got that had the RFX already installed. the mainboard was charred from a final burning out so who ever had it used the RFX to lengthen the life of the radio. it is dead keying 2 watts and swinging to just over 90 on the low power. hi side is a 10 watt dead key swinging to the same, just over 90. not bad for a radio that did 40 to 45 watts factory.

would i have this installed on my 99 or pluto? probably not. i like my texas star too much and can not run it with the 88. there are times that being discreet is needed.
