Curious if anyone is using a Stryker radio, and if so how do you like it?

    Currently? No...

In the past, I have had the 440 and the 490. I loved the way they sounded, and they were overall great radios. Loud, good receive, simple operation and loaded with features for just an AM radio. The only thing I didnt like about them was the blue lighting at night. The dim setting was still blinding. My 440 was set up with a switch that killed all lighting except the meter and channel readout. That was nice. Sold it due to financial issues at that time. Later on, I got the 490. Awesome radio, with a single SD1446 final that put out over 100w. Super loud. Sold it b/c of the lighting....it was not modded like the 440, and although it could have been, I decided to go with the new Magnum S980 Green light edition instead (which off topic, is an awesome radio too).

I haven't had a Stryker since 2009, and I probably would not buy the 440/490 again. But the new 447/497 look pretty awesome with the multiple color options. I think they get a little dimmer too at night, plus you can swtich the color. Green/yellow/red is not near as hard on tired eyes at night as blue is. IMO, you can't go wrong as far as reliability and useability. Warranty is excellent too.

That's my $0.02 on the subject!

I have one, Ill sell it to ya cheap. It does get out, and it does make decent power, but that's about all the good I have to say about it.

Antenna tuning has been a nightmare on my Volvo truck. Basically I cant have any accessories plugged-in in my truck when I turn on the CB. I have it hard wired to the battery, and have tried multiple noise filters nothing seems to help.

Cant have my cellphone charging anywhere near it. Cant have my laptop turned on, no microwave, no tv etc etc. Everything makes it squeal like a pig or back feed. Even drivers with laptops parked beside me cause mega-mondo static issues. Which really pisses me off when I am at a receiver that requires me to communicate with them through the radio.

And yeah, only a total butt hole would design a CB with those annoying blue lights. Nothing in a truck should ever have blue led's, least of all a CB that may sit on a dash. I have an elaborate ritual for nite time thunderstorm driving with that CB. Basically I have a rag I throw on top of it so I am not blinded by the light.

Yup...new in 2007 when I put my latest truck into service. Set it and forget it. No problems at all and it does what it's s'posed to. Mine's a 440-HP.

Most of those issues are antenna issues or grounding issues in the truck. Has nothing to do with the radio itself...

I also had a 440...and probably would still have it if it wasn't for the blue lights...I kept a baseball cap to stick on top of mine at night...It was like having a small TV set turned on all the time it was so bright...even on dim.

If there was a way to turn off the lights around the edge of the radio, that would help.
