Getting ready to go back on the road next month, was thinking about getting a new cb, but not sure if I should bother.

The cb I own now is a Cobra 148 GTL that my dad got for me a 3 or 4 years ago. It was manufactured in 1993. Is this a decent radio? I was thinking of looking into one of those bluetooth cobras, but I have an earpiece so maybe that's silly.

So what do you think? New CB or "if it ain't broke..."?

The old Cobra 148GTL is a great radio. If it works use it.

I probably will. The only thing that's a pain on it is the mic plug is on the side instead of the front. I see the newer models they moved it to the front.

I guess you start looking at some of these shiney new radios makes you think you need something "new". :)

148's of about that age were built in the Philipines and were a better radio than later stuff built in Thailand and China.

Well I recall my dad saying it was a pretty good radio when he gave it to me. Course not knowing much about them I just see that it's 18 years old. :) though it worked well for me when I was otr before.
