If the transformer on my 142 GTL isn't supplying the radio with the proper amount of voltage/amps, will this affect radio rf output? If so...what's my recourse? A new transformer? ....and where to get it. It works OK on DC.
    Thanks

The only way the transformer output could be low is if it had shorted turns from melted enamel. Unlikely or it would be running smoking hot or blowing fuses. Far more likely is a failure in the board where it is rectified and regulated to 13.8 volts. This is where you should be looking since you stated the radio runs fine on external DC power.

Agree if the regulator board is bad that would do it .

I do know that a guy put a new regulator in it...it was bad and shorted. I'm going to have a heckuva time figuring out what it damaged.
