Does the 880 have AMBER or YELLOW for the display?
The images are hard to tell.
I like the 980SSB - that has Amber for sure but no ETA when it's due out?
Will either mount in the same space as the 29LTD standard ?

Well our website about CB and ham radio has made contact with Uniden and they sent us the new models so we can review them. SSB Model not included as it is still a pending model.
Here is a "teaser" picture on top of an older Uniden to compare size.
We will have high quality pictures and the full review out soonLast edited by Happy_Hamer; 11.12.2011 at 02.13 PM.

This isn't good. They should have kept the same size as the 29LTD (industry standard CB)...
Most of the cut outs in the dash or top header panel are for a 29LTD width and height. I can't use the new Uniden now...and I was looking forward to it too...
The 29LTD size also matches most of the DIN sized AM/FM radios too, so things "just fit"....
Oh well....

As long as the SSB version is the same width and height as the 29LTD, I am all over that!

You can use that uniden in the cut outs. You just have to create a filler panel to take up the extra space. A little plexaglass, cut it out to size, find some matching paint and paint the back side of it. Black is a universal color. Then some double stick tape around the 3 edges or some velcro and you are set. I wish they would make the cut outs wider for the DX sized radios such as the galaxy 949/959.
I know I would never ever install a radio in a dash. Dashes of trucks get way too hot for radios.

I have installed Radios into the upper part of the dash (above the visors) and never had a problem.
Yea, I have heard people claim this, but I personally never had a radio die up there - ever.
Maybe a modified "HOT" cranked radio or something?
But never had any standard Cobra 29LTD (or radio tuner for that matter) die up there, so I think it's nothing to worry about
