They've always done great by me. I bought a radio from them a few years ago. Was having swr problems an stopped by a radio shop n Houston. They fixed my swr problem an asked me to bring my radio n for a free bench check. Before he even hooked it up on his bench he qas telling me how much power he can get from that radio. Once he powered it on and talked into it. His very next question was who did your work on this radio. The other to techs turned around an looked at him like they were offended by his remarks. I told him. It was one of the best sounding radios ive ever owned. Just clear crisp audio! None of that bleedibg over and over modulating.

took my radio to have power cords tied into the fuse panel--- only way to get power to my stryker 497 and found out later when looking to check their work that the tech did not tighten down the positive wire at all.shabby work...i had brand new co ax k-40 brand and was told it was not that good???? co-ax is co-ax-- then was told the mirror mount which was new was chrome plated would rust and oxidize which in time it will....sorry but seemed to me they just wanted me to spend money i did not need to spend...they did not know much about stryker radios and admitted it....so i would not want them inside my radio for any reason???? this stryker 497 is the best radio i have ever owned and i have owned just about every radio brand made at one time or another......my radio walks the dog and kicks the cat PERIOD.........

Oh, heck no. Would you say that a Porsche is the same as a Yugo? After all, both have four wheels and will take you down the road.

Those of us who were hams back in the 80s will remember the coax that Radio Shack sold. It was by far the WORST coax that I have ever used. It was quite lossy, and barely had any shielding. (Drive-ins were using it instead of the Belden "leaky" coax for their antennas.)

That changed when RS got a new CEO that was a ham. One of the first things he did was to get rid of the junk coax and replace it with the decent stuff RS sells now.

I don't know who makes the K-40 coax; most likely an unnamed Chinese manufacturer who makes solely on cost.

Listen I have been working on communications equipment for over 40 years mostly CB's. Now if someone says they don't know much about a certain cb it's because they probably don't have the position of the variable control that turns adjusts the AMC or the they don't know where the Diode is they would like to cut to eliminate the AMC.. The reason I say this is because if you have a real background in Electronics you would know that every radio has the same basic components and circuitry the truth is there is very little difference between a stryker board and most other 10 meter class radios and although it may be a little rough without Schematics it's still a CB..and I have never not been able to fix any CB.. So when you hear a Tech say this about CB's don't let them in it..
