| I agree bubbaj ! I always considered it an honor to "make a 'hand" ---that means you had "earned your stripes", "made the grade" & were worthy to be a "PROFESSIONAL DRIVER" ! Any of y'all remember the OLD DAYS , when the sign in the Truckstop read......RESERVED FOR PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS??

| When I was younger (20 about) my first wife's dad was a driver, then he owned a truck tire business. This was about 1980. He used the word hand quite often, but not always. Reflecting back now, I realize he used it as a term of respect. I remember two situations where drivers looking for tires were rude and what I thought was somewhat degrading to him. He called them "bud"! |
