| I recommend the Yaesu FT-857D. I have 2 of these radios and like them very well. My second recommendation would be the Icom IC 7000. I got to play with one of these units last week and it was awesome. This will definitely be my next radio. As far as antennas go. I use the Yaesu ATAS-120 for mobile right now. However, later on I'm going to get either a High Sierra Sidekick, or a Bandhopper.

| radio I have used the 857d and the icom 706 and both are good radios. i use the 857d over here in Iraq and it does a fine job on a G5RV and a tuner also. I ran a screw driver on the truck and still have it at home made by NO5E and it will last for ever. But if you want one that will last fo ever and give you no real trouble the Band hopper is the way to go. If you are going to run any power which i recomend if you want to work 75 or 40 mtrs then deffinatly the band hopper it will take legal limit and never give you any problems. |

| I too like the FT-857D and it is cheap right now at $695 and comes with a free remote mount kit. I can't comment on the antenna and most of your all banders use 2 or more antenna connectors as well. I relied on 2 seperate antennas. One for HF through 6M and one for 2M and 70cm.
