| Anybody out there SLIP_SEAT? Most of my trucking now is Slip-Seating ( driving a different tractor on every dispatch) so ......every time I drive it is a brand new install. I go all over the Southeast picking up & finishing runs for sick drivers / guys with family emergencies etc. I have had really good luck with the new Wilson Slide to tune "no ground" antenna. This way I only carry 1 antenna , it has worked on every tractor I've driven with a LOW SWR so it won't burn the finals out of my Uniden ! Anyone else have any "slip-seater" tips??

| I sometimes will have someone else drive my sleaper truck which I find annoying since it is set up with all my radio equip, inverter, microwave etc. I'v been looking at those slip seating accesorie boxes that hold your radio equipment but they usually only have space for a cb and a stereo. Gues if I want one for my inverter I'l have to build it. Plus the heavy wiring needed is a pain as I do occasionally have to drive a different truck. I deliver mobile medical scanning equipment to hospitals and they don't always have enough room for my big sleeper truck. Guess in that case I'm out of luck since I can't wire a #4 power supply into every truck we own. Next week I', headed to Oakland and they say I may have to drive the small sleeper and I'm saying that if I do then someone else is going to CA. As for antenna I have swaped around my astatic 3K to different trucks and it's always had good swr in each of them once I set it the first time. |

| Hey medicineman , I have heard some positive feedback on the Astatic antennas, I have heard that they work well where the ground is less than perfect. I have never seen a slip seater box with an inverter....hmmmm might be interesting. I usually use either a Francis antenna or a Wilson slide to tune No Ground plane antenna both of these work well for me. If the truck cab is an old steel cab , I use the Francis . If the cab or doors are the new plastic/ fibreglass junk I use the Wilson. I usually go with my trusty Uniden it's nothing special but, it gets the job done. I also carry my CPAP machine , it's better than AMEXPRESS I don't leave home without it !
