I'll be issued a 2012 KW T800 in the next few weeks. It comes with twin (co-phase) KW fiberglass antennas. They look like FireSticks. On my 386 Pete I have a single Wilson 2000 trucker. I'm running a Galaxy 949 with an RFX 75.

Are the KW antennas any good?

in my honest opinion, no truck manufacturer puts a "good" antenna or coax on their trucks. not to mention most, if not all, nowdays run through splitter boxes with cb/am/fm/tv all going through the antennas. just my .02 worth

That doesn't sound promising. I'm figuring on the antennas being crappy, but running everything through a splitter box is no good.

Just replace the factory antenna's with two Wilson Silver loads or two Skip-shooter antenna's and you will be good to go. Dont worry about the factory coax unless your going to be running more than a few hundred watts. At that point your going to have to either replace the coax with something better or just run one antenna mounted to your mirror bracket with good coax.

I could do that, but hoping that I can just put my Wilson 2k on it. I already have some real good coax, so don't need to worry about that.

Thanks, I'll have to do that when I get the truck. So far it's still setting at the dealership in Emporia. Our shop is taking their sweet time about getting them ready. They need to take the wet-kit off our Petes and put them on the KWs.

I"m also hoping my Galaxy with the RFX75 on the back of it, will fit into the slide-out CB compartment. It also has the side-mount Mic. It looks like it will be a tight fit.

Got another look at the T800s. The antennas are mounted to the mirror brackets. However the brackets seem to be a composite material, and not your good old metal.

Now the real kicker, is I'm now wondering if I"ll be getting one of the new KWs. I was told mine was green. When I get back to the shop this afternoon, I see 5 tractors, a couple of white ones, a purple one, and a couple of red ones. There's no green one. I did notice the green T800 sitting at the dealership, on the lawn as if it's for sale. Makes me think I was mislead. Oh well if that's the case, fine. Just don't know what truck they'll put me in, as they are getting rid of my truck.

I know since I'm the rookie, I should drive the older ones. The KWs are replacing all the '07 & '08 Petes, which the other drivers are driving.

I guess mega fleets aren't the only ones that assign you a truck and trailer that is nothing but problems, and complain when you have problems. The funny thing is, that I have not had the problems with the truck that the driver before me had.

This week I had problems with the trailer. It would not lower. It took me some time to finally get it to come down. This while the wind was blowing around 35-40 mph. I agree I may have caused it to mess up. Last week while dumping, again with strong winds (45-50mph), I had to raise and lower it about 4 times. When it was at the 3rd stage, the wind would catch it, and the trailer started swaying. This may have produced air in the hydraulics, or even messed up the valve. But the way I see it, that's much better and cheaper than replacing a junk trailer because it blew over. Also I was told when I hired on, if a driver lays over a trailer they're fired.
