Channel 17 today from my home in MO I heard some people yacking. A couple of them had multi tone roger beeps. Another one of them had a robot voice mic of some type. One of them was really coming thru, real loud modulation. I would guess all of these guys might have been on the west coast.

I went over to the 10 meter side of the house...a lot of skip was coming in from the west coast....I talked to a guy in Oregon, and then talked to three guys in California, and finally one guy in Cuba.

I used to love spending summer at my parents cottage, there was no cable TV, just OTA.I would always be scanning the TV channels and turning the antenna searching for TV skip.At times I would take a picture of the stations on air ID or test pattern to send in as a reception verification.I did/might still have some QSL cards or letters from quite a few stations

    My favorite band.

Nope...I wasn't sure if anyone even still did those....instead I just log into QRZ and there's a page there where you log your contacts, or your contacts can log you. Then when you both agree on the QSO you get a star.

Also forgot I talked with a guy in Washington state today too.

I don't get much cali stuff here in ND but I get a lot of Sand Pile (Florida) stuff on channel 28. Don't get me wrong, I do get some Cali stuff but not alot. Sometimes I can get back to Cali but it is usually later in the day.

I don't even try to get back to people on 19 as it is very crowded. 28 and 26 seem to be the best channels for me to get out on.

Your a good man Rat! :thumbright: IMHO anybody that talks skip on 19 should be horse whipped!!! Plenty of other channels to choose from. Of course I know I'm dreaming to think there is enough courtesy out there to not clog up the "truckers channel" shooting skip.:biggrin_25510: Just wishful thinking I guess..........:biggrin_25511:

You just got to love the FCC for placing a short range non hobby service in a DX band .....

    Turbo-T Thanks this.
