I would have to agree with ya on shooting skip on channel 19...But if I hear someone in DX on channel 19, then YES, I'm going to try and make the trip back to them, mainly because of how crowded the channel is around here in the Dallas area, making a clean contact in DX on 19 is like putting a feather in your cap! And then listening to everyone else trying to make the contact with no luck, or saying those guys weren't really where they said they were...is priceless...

Just yesterday and this morning I talked to several different people in the Northeast on 19...Didn't plan on it...Just worked out that way!

And Yes, I know for a fact the contacts were where they said they were...Because I know them from other DX channels, and Forums...

When the conditions are out there, it doesn't seem to matter what type of radio people have, 19 is so crowded and full of noise that you can not hardly make local contact over a couple miles.

People turn their squelch or RF gain back so far that they don't have any ears for anything less then 100-200 watts locally.

So no, I don't intensionally go calling our for contacts on 19 but when someone long distance calls me out then I will answer back. I just don't turn on my little heater when running 19.

But I have a big day today, heading out in an hour or so up to Manitoba so I will be trying on 28 when the sun comes up.

Going to be heading into manitoba from the east on Trans Canada 1 towards Brandon MB then heading south through the Peace Gardens and dropping down through ND towards the central part of the state.

Not sure what conditions will be like but if I hear noise then I will be trying.

My understanding is she runs a taxi cab company south of the border somewhere. I believe there is more of them than just her. Yes I know what you mean about the roger beep...does that get old real quick.

One of the CBers on one of the other forums keyed up to her one day from the U.S., she responded back with "shut up gringo". :biggrin_25523:

Wasn't anything at all on any channel in Dallas today...Maybe a little bit early like around 10:00AM but it was so faint you couldn't make out where it was coming from...and then it was gone after a few minutes anyway...

Maybe it was a Monday Holiday I didn't hear about....wasn't much on 19 either.
