Just got it about 4 weeks ago. Running at 140 watts with Browning antenna's. Gets out about 15 miles running thru the mountains out west. Love it!

The image is tagged as being from radiohacktive, if that is where he bought the radio that very well may be the problem.

    Very nice radio otherwise.

Bought it in Corning CA. 15 miles thru mountain canyons while moving is good. Up on the flatlands i here people all over the country. I can get out farther then 15 miles on the high plains. Me and a buddy of mine went at least 25-30 miles one night, at least thats what we could come up with.

Its been a very good radio. Very clear. I hear guys from the Midwest like there right next to me sometimes. You have to dim the bright blue lights at night while driving, looks like the blue planet in the truck otherwise.

CJ, Do you realize you are comparing a base antenna several feet in the air to a mobile antenna very near the ground that is actuall moving? With your 20 mile readings from a base station, I would not be bragging.:biggrin_25525:

Stump, if you are talking local 25-30 miles your radio/antenna are working just fine.

    Big_m Thanks this.

Huge difference between an A99 on a roof top then any antenna mounted on a truck.

But then I can see 10-15 miles on 4 watts in the truck going through a Wilson 5000. Turn the power up to a 100 or so and I can hit 25-30 miles on the mobile and this is with about a 600 ft hill between us. I say 600 because that is what my gps says.

Flip on my palomar and it becomes a completely different ball game.

    Big_m Thanks this.

Yes, very happy with my set up. Great price. Being out in the mountain west, this radio rocks! I run on Channel 17 running north-south out hear for the most part, lots of chatter from the eastside of the country most of the time. Just learning what the radio will do still. Frist big watt set up.
