Amateur Radio was featured in quite a few TV shows and movies back in the 50's and 60's when it was popular.

I always liked the segment in "The Anderson Tapes" with Sean Connery where the paralyzed kid uses his Heathkit HW-101 to call out for help when the apartment building he lives in is being robbed... resulting in the police getting calls from operators around the country.

Not true anymore,a "3" call could be from anywhere in the US.

Florida is/was in the "4" call district?

    So a technician can't hold a 1X3 call sign such as K9DOG?

Springfield is in Missouri....and there's also a Springfield in Illinois...kind of middle of the state off to the west a little bit.

I've been to Springfield MA, VA, OH, NJ, PA, NC, and GA. And there are many other Springfields. And CJ 3 calls were from PA, DE, and MD. Not Florida! Florida is 4 land. Now you can have any number call in the Conus 48 States. As for Hermans call why would a TV show bootleg a real call? And yes a technician can hold a 1X3 call sign such as K9DOG.

Some people just talk without thinking first.

I think this is absurd, can you cite your source????

Those were pretty funny.....could have done without the alphabet lesson though. Come to think of it, I had some letters one time KZR3054 if I'm not mistaken, 1975 was a long time ago!
