Really need to know were you are going to put the radio and antenna.

Lots of good antennas out there it just depends on how worried you are about hitting stuff with the antenna.

I have a peaked and tuned Cobra 29 in my pickup. Basically the same radio. I bought a magnetic base and twisted a 10 inch shaft wilson 2000 into it. Used the radios SWR meter to tune the antenna to get a safe swr.

Don't have any warning lights coming on and the radio will reach out an easy 10 miles on a cruddy day.

But then I did check the radios SWR meter against two other SWR meters so I felt safe using the on board SWR meter.

This is weird. Are you me? My dad just gave me the exact same radio. He gave me the box and original owners manual too. I'm using a Wilson 2000 and a lil wil magnetic mount for my pick up truck. If you have any questions about the owners manual let me know. I just started using it today.

    Low,

If you want to perform reasonably well and keep it simple:
Local truck stop or cb shop:
    4' francis antenna
    Astatic 636 mic
This in consideration your truck already had a bracket and coax cable.
If not pick up a mirror bracket and 18' rg8x coax cable.
Put it together and may the force be with you.
Yes, you can improve from that, but it's a simple effective starting point.
