Personally, I would like to call this guy, and think him, for one less nitt-witt out there, talking with some super amp, just to talk to someone a mile away. And as far as someone spending "4 big ones" on anything to do with a CB radio, I'm told that a fool and his money are often quickly separated.

I myself have 25 years driving experience. I have yet to meet even one single, solitary guy who runs any type of amp on his CB, with an IQ higher than a bowl of week old fruit. But don't you worry, if you think "4 big ones" is better spent on some idiot CB equipment, then providing for your family, there are plenty of guys who will be glad to help you out.

Dear Sir - I have been in contact with a representative of Sparkys CB Shack and know for certain that Sparky has been gravely ill in recent months. He has been unable to oversee business/business transactions as he had before. I know, from personal experience, that he has reimbursed thousands of dollars to customers. He is not a bad person. He has had a horrific battle and 'the shack" has suffered for it. I do hope that you have a heart and some empathy. This kind of thing can happen to anyone. I think his many years of excellent customer service speaks for itself. Unfortunately, employees do not always follow suit. I have self-employment history and understand how this situation can happen...in an instant!! Thank you for your time.

Your arrogance is astounding. If someone enjoys CB as their hobby what business is it of yours how much they spend on their gear since they did work for the money. Not one asked you to pay for any of it. Why do you assume they are robbing their family? How do you know they are not making a decent living and providing very well for their loved ones while being able to afford 400 dollars for their equipment? Should they have nothing else in life for enjoyment just to please you while passing your self righteous test? By your logic Ham operators are the worst scum yet what with blowing 6 grand for a tower, rotor, beam, Ameritron, HF rig, and associated equipment. If you have met no one of intelligence running a quality CB station perhaps they perceived your attitude and arrogance as someone they wished to avoid, leaving you with no one to talk to other than people who think and act as you do.

The OP isn't talking money. He wants his amp back. Any person or relative can mail it back for a few dollars. There is no excuse for that even if his health is failing.

Where is the amp? Did he sell it? If not mail it back to the guy. Financial devastation doesn't stop that.

Appears to be a I can't afford it, so you shouldn't be allowed to mentality, or I can but you can't. So if someone has a hobby of restoring vintage cars, collecting rare coins, or historic memorabilia, they are "nitwits", and should not be allowed to do so? Who gave you the right and authority to determine these things? I'd go on, but this is not the political forum.

I think Truck-N-Tech's point was that there are many better things that "4 big ones" could be spent on.
I tend to agree with that point of it.

I mean each year less and less people even use the dam CB. How many times we try to reach a trucker to tell him/her
something about their rig and NO RESPONSE...
A stock 5watt unit should serve the needs of any trucker just fine.

Of course there are also those who spend mass amounts on all of the crap that is supposed to give us 1/2 of 1/10 of a MPG more...

    :biggrin_25521:

It's your money. You can spend it any way you see fit..... :biggrin_25520:

I am not saying these guys who run a nice CB setup are idiots. I am talking about the horse's rears out there, who have ***ILLEGAL*** CB setups. If you have some huge desktop radio, good for you. Run it legal, and have a great time. When you add some sort of linear amp, pushing you wattage past the legal limit, then you enter the idiot zone. If you want to talk with the big boys, then get a HAM Radio License, and have a ball.

The Ham radio operators I have met, are all higher-than-average social, and educated. They have a lot of money tied up into their equipment, but it is all **LEGAL** equipment. They also know how to use their equipment. They are not idiots who cause problems with Aircraft or Military radio operations.

To run illegal equipment, and risk huge fines, is not the act of an intelligent person. Getting on the CB, and being ignorant to others, by talking over top of them with your over-powered radio, is not socially acceptable. PERIOD!

    Idiot zone?

So I take it your upset you cant talk over a guy running something like a General Lee at 45w's with your 4w cb radio, so in your opinion they must be a idiot...

Really? "Higher than average social and educated?"....Talk about Stereotyping...

As for the last part about the idiots causing problems with Aircraft or Military Radio's...Last I checked, a CB Radio doesn't even come close to those frequency's...And just this year a guy in California was busted for talking on Aircraft Freq. and he WAS a HAM operator...Guess he must have been a exception to your rule hua....

Think allot of people know Al has had some health issues to deal with, and from what I have read on other Forums (Including Sparkys Forum) he also had some employee problems as well...

This does not excuse him from leaving his Web Site OPEN during this whole time and letting people place orders knowing good and well he was not going to be able to fill the orders any time soon, but yet kept right on taking peoples money...Not to mention all the people who sent him repair work, and have not been able to contact him or anyone else at his shop on the status of their equipment...

He may well be a "Nice Guy" but as a Business Man he needs a little help...

What he should have done was place a note on his Web Site stating that they were either not taking orders at this time, due to illness or something to that affect, or just close the site and put up a sign that says "Closed, will be back soon"...

"IF" he was not up to doing that, he could have found someone to do it for him I'm sure...

By leaving the site Open and continuing to take peoples money, he left himself open for fraud charges...plus getting Black Listed as a shop not to do business with..
