should be band "D" for reg cb channels. the +1- switch adds 1-kc to any channel that you are using. meaning, if you had a freq counter, the actual frequency of channel 19 is 27.185 so by pressing in on the 10 switch, it changes the freq to 27.195, and that is a channel "between" 19 and 20. the freq for channel 20 is 27.205

that switch is made to compensate for the irregularities in the channel flow of the IC mixer on the radio. most radios can have that switch added later by a tech. do yourself a favor. either print the chart out below and laminate it, of buy an external counter and have a tech wire it to the radio. some of the xport radios like the stryker, connex and galaxy lines have a connector on the back of the radio that is just for an external freq meter. if you can remember where you are, then dont bother with the freq counter. if you constanly get lost, then it would worth having one installed. good luck.

    Misfit,
That radio comes as a 10 meter (amateur/"ham") radio only, with no CB enabled, from the factory. Even at that, it's unlawful for U.S. hams to use it. For it to be used on CB (also unlawful, but who's counting?) it will need to be converted by moving things around inside it.
If you bought that at a shop, you'll need to take it in and get them to convert it for you. Either that, or the Internet is your friend, beyond asking here; you can Google "stryker 447 conversion" and find the procedure to do it yourself. When the usual conversion is done, the switch will go to D, but if it isn't done yet, you won't be there, and will attract unwanted attention.
But not knowing the use for the 10 kHz switch in the first place might prove problematic for you, especially without a *freek* counter.
As will trying to transmit on *any* of the existing switch positions as the radio sits now, if it just came out of the box.

    Misfit,
Sounds like you ran a good test there.
Also, I saw you'd gotten it at Copper. I went and looked at their site. When I looked at their little pull-down menu of "service options", there are only two: either just ship it as is, which you apparently got, or for $30 they've got something marked "expand, align, and tune". Sounds like "expand" would have been the conversion.
Since you've already got a local tech you trust, you'll probably be farther ahead there than by sending it back to the dealer and paying them, unless there are any warranty seals on the case, cuz I see the radio has a one-year warranty. But then I don't know if Copper is a warranty point, either, or if the radio has to go back to the factory (or importer) for warranty service.
Nice radio, by the way. Let us know how it goes.

Another option you have to keep you on the CB band, is to have the tech set the radio up so it doesn't go off the 40 channels. It's possible to do on a Connex 3300, it might be doable on a Stryker.

You might get some weird looks though since almost no one does this, except those that wish to keep it on the 40 allotted channels.

Now there's the safest option of all. It eliminates the worry of possibly grabbing the wrong switch in the dark and wondering what happened to all the rest of your traveling chums. Until an Army tactical team meets you at your next stop for using one of their frequencies. Most of the so-called "freeband" frequencies below CB and above the 12 meter ham band are allocated to "da gummint". Yeah, the guys with the black helicopters. :)
Turbo's good at thinking of solutions like this one; wish I had.
