Back in 2007, I was given a RadioActive Radios General Lee with the SuperWhackPack/SuperReceive combo for Christmas. The radio was installed in a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor that had several chassis grounds and engine grounds with copper braid wire, and even trunk lid grounds. I bought a Wilson 2000 trunk lip mount antenna. The radio has been a good radio, although it was not given the SuperReceive mod like I ordered.

After a few years, I had to get my Lieutenant, who had been working on CB's, (and does full-time now that he is retired), to fix a cold solder joint. The radio got beat around pretty good while on patrol, but it still worked great. I could talk skip barefoot, and the radio would do about 45 watts with 2 1969 finals. I then bought a Class C Bladebuilt Amp 2x4 and put an extra 1100 amp D battery in the trunk. This setup would hit 1200 watts all day long and get my name called over base stations in DX land every time.

I became so accustomed to people telling me how awesome that radio sounded, and asking what kind of radio I had, that I got offended if I didn't get compliments after awhile. I talked to countless truckers on it, and when they realized I was in a patrol car, they would always be blown away by how good the radio sounded barefoot. My lieutenant was running a Galaxy 77 in his patrol car, and put it on the shelf and bought a General Lee. Then, three more of my cb friends heard mine and decided to get one.

All in all, I am very pleased with the clarity and modulation of my SWP General Lee and have no complaints. It is now in my big truck, and I have a fatboy 2 pill and a predator 10k dual coil. The radio still gets compliments. For those considering a Radioactive Radio, I would recommend them based on quality and price, although they did forget to SuperReceive it, but turn around time is slow since they seem to be busy.

Im glad you were one of the few as well who got a product from there and it was decent. The people I know got rigs from RAR and they were completely trashed. Got to searching on the internet and come to find out 98 percent of the things that come from there suck. I cant stand how phony and childish some of his things seem...a Super Wack Pack? I feel like a ###### saying my radio has that. Guess it just depended on the tech working on it. Also you can talk skip on a 29 straight out of the box with 4 watts...its up to mother nature homie..

Like I said, this was back in 2007 so maybe it was a different tech. My lieutenant has taken the lid off mine several times to see what was done to it to get it so loud and clear, and I showed him a post where someone said exactly how to do the SWP mod, but they just don't sound as clear. My lieutenant has owned just about every CB known to man, and currently has RCI-2970's, 2990's, Cherokee's, Galaxy's, Cobra 2000's, and every type of amp from Maco tubes to class AB-1. He has a handful of D-104's, talks on a set of 5's 120 feet in the air in the middle of his neighborhood. In the six years I have known him, the only radio he couldn't fix had been struck by lightning. So when he liked my radio so much that he put his mint condition Galaxy 77 on the shelf, I knew it must be a good sounding radio. And Budha, you are right, conditions dictate. That Texas Star 271 channel I have talked several hundred miles to Georgia on 4 watts.

I had heard a bunch of good things about RAR...a guy I work with has a loud , clean and mean General Lee from there with the upgrades like yours as well ,so I believe you if it sounds like his...just the complaints to good radios ratio kinda turned me off ya know.

Its always funny when you go to one cb shop and they talk bad about another cb shop. I've only heard the other radios from RAR that my friends bought and they all sound good, but I'm sure he has his issues too. I don't send my radio back to him since he is on the left coast and shipping wouldn't be worth it. Plus, my lieutenant does all my work for free, so I can't complain. I would like to get Sparky to Sparktune my 99 someday.

its not the radioactive.....its the general lee. there is something about those radios that make them outstanding.

Is it common for law enforcement to run illegal cb radios and amplifiers in patrol cars ?
