Time to buy a new radio, but where?

I just got a Galaxy yesterday from Bellscb.com.
The Tech there sets them up right.They are a Galaxy warranty dealer so no clip and snip like the hack CB shops.
Very pleased with his peak and tune and they were great to deal with.
They have many You Tube videos of the 959 after tune up.

 

Bells is where to go online. It may take a while due to high sell volume. I HIGHLY recommend Chucks CB Shop in Tennessee at the 126 on I-40. He's a very honest straight up man. I'm been doing business with him for most of my life. Chuck himself works the bench and his son does installs. He can do any mods you want. He can order it, peak and tune it, mod it, ship it to you. I wish i got out that way. Since i started these dedicated routes Knoxville and Chattanooga is as far as i go in TN.

 

Man there's guys that go 100 miles out of the way to go to Chucks lol. Owner Ops that is. A company wouldn't be happy if they found out! You can call him and order something and he can have it to you modded and all in a few days depending on if he has it stock. He's most the reasonable CB Shop I've ever been in. Good prices and good tech work is truly hard to find and he offers that.

 

That's good to know. We may be getting another account that goes to Dyersburg so i will stop in and check him out if i get that run.

Bells was pretty good time wise.It took a little over a week to get my 94HP.

 

What company do you drive for? I didn't see a video on a 94HP on Bell's YouTube account. They usually do a video but they must be slacking or something.

 

We are a private carrier for a chain of movie theaters.
We have new theaters going up in Western TN.
Showtime is the name on my truck.
We run out loaded and back empty 99% of the time unless i pick up popcorn oil and butter flavoring in Chattanooga.

They had several DX94HP tune up reports on You Tube.Just google it and they pop up.
On my cheap meter mine was swinging 135 and dead key on high was 35 low was 5.

well if your asking yourself where to buy a new radio? I can help you in two ways! FIRST THE DON'T!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT AND I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH DO NOT BUY FROM RADIOACTIVE!!!!!!! Mike is less than desireable people to talk to, (nicest way i could think of putting it) (#%$^#$#%$#+**&) says it a lil better! His mods are total B.S. and any money you plan to spend on his junk save yourself time and send it to me and i will gladly send you one of my junk parts radios ive collected over the years. On the bright side for me I've purchased two of his epic fails from frustrated drivers who bought the bull and had them repaired and retuned. In the end i had two booming radios for pennies on the dollar! Second If your driving accross I 80 in PA stop at exit 70 and see bob at bobs cb shop you will never ponder letting someone else touch your equipment again, NEVER!!! He is the best, He wont try to sell you uneeded items mods ect... He will simply do what you need and ask for, his prices are fantastic and every radio he sells is tuned by him personally, and carries his warranty. Bob will not sit there and feed you a line, or waste your time, in fact Bob is a quiet man he may not say much to you at all. do not be offended by lack of conversation, he is very busy and if at his bench is concentrating on your or someones baby. I've been buying radios from him for several years now and have never even gotten to take one back yet for him to make good on the warranty!! And to be honest i would still have my first bob tuned ranger if people would quit offering me so much money for mine that i break down and part with it, and by the way the guys who have purchased my oldies are guys i work with and see daily. They still run my hand me downs and have suffered no consecquences other than paying more for them than i did and hearing my crack sloppy seconds jokes!!! All jokes aside if you need a radio call or stop at bob's legit tunes better than average prices and a warranty you will never get to use!!!!!!

 

At the risk of incurring the wrath of all the drivers here who swear by So&so's ultimate tweak, peak, & tune to an otherwise perfectly good radio (after all, they paid $100, so who's to say they wasted their hard-earned money?), may I respectfully suggest buying a box-stock Uniden Bearcat 980 (or an 880, if you have no need for, nor curiosity about, single sideband)?
I haven't seen one come out of the box that needed a single thing adjusted, and my service bench is worth upwards of $28,000, with over 40 years' experience in running it.
The *ONLY* thing that the new Bearcat line will legitimately benefit from is a bit more TX audio. Increased mic audio is a two-edged sword: if it makes your voice louder, it also makes your cab's ambient noise louder. So find a noise-cancelling power mic (there are lots for under $35), set it to where it sounds good, and either put a silver Sharpie® mark where the sweet spot is on the gain pot, or put a piece of masking tape over it to hold it in place.
And in the name of all that is holy, PLEASE do not garbage-up your now pristine, easy-to-hear signal with squeaks/squawks/echoes/reverb/slapback delay/flangers/robot voice "effects". It'll be kinda like getting a nice diamond ring, setting it in a white gold mount, then using it to pick your nose after eating a bean & cheese taco.

Nearly everyone sells the new Bearcats online or in-person. Please, PLEASE resist the temptation to pay the proprietor $40-100 to do stuff that neither you (or, likely, he) understands to its innards. With these days of SMD components, it's hard to tell what's being done. (I learned how to work with them at an EF Johnson land mobile factory school in 1984, so I'm pretty good at it.)

Keep your extra $$$ for some decent coax and an antenna with a counterpoise, even if you have to make it yourself using Mike5111's or my methods.
