I got a Cobra 29 at a pawn shop for $50. Works pretty good.

The right antenna properly tuned will be the best for any radio.
You can have a 500 dollar radio and a junk antenna and all that money went down the drain.mike5511 Thanks this. -
( I was thinking,Score!! )
Plugged it in the truck and it sounds great.Another spare radio to add to the collection....lol!
So now i have a new 29LTD Chrome,A new DX94HP, a very old DX44V and the old Cobra.
I think one will end up driving a 4 pill as a base. -
remember that a 30 dollar radio and a 300 dollar radio all have one thing in common...........channels 1 thru 40. anything else is personal preference. you must have a good antenna setup and good SWRs. anything less than that is a waste.

Im not checking this post anymore but thought since ive had my cb for a bit now i would update this in case any new drivers are looking for info. I get about 2 miles of clear reception. Talking to shippers or trucks for traffic or in a truckstop for info the reception is perfect. If that is all u want to do the cheapest option will be perfect. I havent bought an antenna i just use the stock one that came with the truck i was givin. Also for new drivers take into account what speed you are governed at. If u spend money to get more reception it wont matter as much since u will be passed all the time and constantly falling out of range of people u are talking to.
