You won't find a CB for $30 at a truck stop. Well you can if its like a Midland model 1000. I have one of those radios.

I would buy at least a Cobra 25 or the Uniden equivalent. You can probably buy a Cobra 19 on sale for about that, but I wouldn't waste my money on one. (Now that I said that I will confess that yesterday I bought a Cobra 19, new in the box, for $20 at a local salvage store. Got a friend that wants a small sized CB and doesn't really care about max performance. With a good antenna it will serve his purpose.)

I bought a cobra 19 ultra today for 40 dollars plus a ten dollar mail in rebate. It works ok. For my purposes it seems fine.

I'll second what has been said a Cobra 25 IMO is a good starter radio as is a Uniden PC 68. That Cobra will work ok just it might pick up a lot of noise that you won't be able to rid of.

This is true and why I wouldn't waste my money on one. But if all you are gonna do is talk to shippers and the truck behind you, you can get by with it.

The Cobra 25 or Uniden 68 is what i would
get if it were me. If an amp is in the future
these are ideal radios. A hacked up export
or any radio without it's modulation limiter
ends up being a big waist of money if your
goal is being load and clean.
