No disrespect to "The CB man". The best CB shop is only as good as his equipment, there is no way a traveling CB repairman has what's needed. And if you needed to take it back?

Another Canadian driver and Big_m Thank this.

No way would i let him touch my gear...I saw him tune a radio in 5 min with a screw driver and wire cutters while sittin in his drivers seat..He took the radio apart, snipped a wire, maxed out the mod pod and turned it backa bit and asked for a radio chk...I had to walk away....His so called ant man who is not much better ,tunes ant with a $20 trk stop meter...He doesnt take into account the trucks goin by,building he is parked next to and if doors an such are open..
What he sells aint to bad..Some nice connex radios all piled up in the back of his very messy van..
Nope i say better off with nothin..
Never hurts to study with all the info online and buy based on what you learn and word of mouth...
I have 4 cobra 29s at home and all but one has been worked on..All work well but my baby is the new stryker 955...I pared that with a new predator 10k and new tested coax...Evetyhing is good but somethin in my set up just aint right...Its not the gear its the installer(me)....So i figured i would be smart and get myself a mfj 259b....Now i have info overload and created more probs for myself till i learn how to understand what the analyzer is tellin me...

Tested coax is when its proven to be all it can be...No shorts and its 50 or 72 ohms depending on set up your useing..50 ohm coax for single ant and 72 for two ant..
Its also a good idea to ask how ends were attached..Im just learning this myself..Just crimpted ends are crap if memory is right they should be soldered but in such a way that nothin gets melted inside the core of the coax..
Youtube is my friend ..Learning lots and pickin cb repair guys brains to..

Hope you got two of those Strykers. One to poop on and one to cover it up with.:biggrin_2552: Just kidding. Friend of mine has similar setup and it's one of the finest sounding radios I've heard. Ahead/behind him is about the same for 10+ miles. Got Predator high enough so coil can do it's thing and some good wire and tune.

Oh, I just took the stuff off the spool and ran it where I needed it, put ends on it and that was it.

By the way, I think you got the MFJ antenna analyser, you need to go get yourself the ARRL antenna analyser book - http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Your-Antenna-Analyzer-Hallas

That Stryker puts out 70watts PEP. Not the greatest talker with that 70 watts either meaning it doesn't transmit all that great. My cobra 29 with the RFX75 was at 130 watts PEP. (The RFX75 works best with the 25 and 29 btw)
The 29 is also a talker and utilizes those watts well. That said, you won't get out as far with 955 no matter what you do just like I won't with my General Lee unless I flip the switch to lo (2watts) and let it drive a kicker. Which I may or may not do some day. For now, I'm more than happy with the 50+ watts and quality sound of my General Lee all by it's lonesome tho and it will out talk the 955 all day even with my so called piece of junk wilson 2000 antennas as you call them.
Oh, the 955 sure is pretty to look at tho.
