ok. I'll buy that. Maybe stick with a Texas Star or Palomar. Or maybe an Xforce. After reading a little more, it seems the DaveMade might like higher voltage too. Seems the TS and Xforce are pretty popular. The XForce maybe being one that would be better with lower watts driving it. I think it might be one that matches up with the General pretty well.

1st off, Dave in New Jersey is not building the Davemade Box's anymore, and hasn't for years. He does still build tho, but mostly just for friends...The Davemades you see most guys running are built in North Carolina by a guy named Joe who use to work with Dave...He still builds the box's however to the same specks as Dave did, so there's no difference there.

As for if Dave's are as good as the hype...Lets just say Davemade is what most other compare their products to...X Force, Fat Boy both got their start by coping Davemade...Along with several others...

I run nothing but Davemade, with the exception of my tube box on my Base set-up, and have never-ever ran into a problem with them...I have a 1x4, 2x4, 2x6, 8 pill, and a 16 pill Davemades and they all do exactly what they are rated at...No hype. Just watts...

When it comes to what you read on the Internet about these Amps that are built for CB Radio, you have to take what you read with a grain of salt, because everyone thinks the Amps they run are the best....I'll be the first to tell ya, Davemades are not the best out there...They are considered to produce what some call "Dirty Watts" meaning there's little if any filtering involved so they can cause you to bleed on other channels...But so will X Forces, Fat Boy's, No Names, and every other C class box...They are what they are... If you use one with a radio that's been peaked out to the max, then you can expect some major harmonics out...but that also is with any amp.

"Dirty watt's in= Dirty watts out, only louder!"

Good info JJD and makes sense to me. I do know I kept my General pretty clean. I know it's capable of DKing higher than what mine is set at and swing a little more too but I didn't want it to sound like ####. That said, I'm going to run less than max watts into one and as a result it won't be pushed to max out on output either. Should last longer that way too. Does that make sense?

absolutely... When I had a General Lee, I had it hooked up to a straight 4 pill and it sounded great. I also used it with my 2x6, and didn't have any problems either, but I wouldn't recommend hooking one up to something like a 1 pill or a 1x2 or 1x4 because it's going to over drive the 1 pill. (if that makes since)....

Bottom line, nothing wrong with Davemades is the point I was trying to get across earlier, I'm not sure if Charger is even still building Fat Boy's or not, I do know the FCC tried to stick him with a fine a few years ago and Charger took them off his web site...X Force supposedly has gotten better the last few years with their design...I did try a X Force once back around 04 or 05 and had nothing but hell with it, but Carl finally just refunded me my money so I don't have anything bad to say about them now...

Texas Stars are not bad at all either, they do need to be modified for 11 meter tho, but most shops will do that for you anyway...

Are the preamps the TS and others come with worth it or are you just amping up the noise? Interested in bumping up the receive but it seems that's a little tougher to accomplish.

I had them demons in my volvo too, would disappear at dead stop... made it a real b!tch to find the problem.
Thanks to help I found here, I ended up putting graphite in the front hubs, and all quiet now.

My radio is direct to the battery with 14 ga i think(thicker than stock harness anyways)so you would think it wouldnt affect it..Unless its somethin to do with coax routeing near electrical and some of that rf stuff i dont understand..
