all the slider switches in the middle unless you want to use the ssb feature which is upper or lower sidebands, you'll find alot of ssber's on channel 38 lsb.
The clarifier knob is for fine tuning ssb stations only so if they sound garbled you can tune that one way or the other until you clear up thier transmission.
Crank the mic gain full right or unless someone says you're distorted then you could turn it back to the left a bit until your audio clears up.
the rf power knob controls your power output which 4 watts is legal and unless it's been modified it should do near that turned full right and you have a scale on the meter which would be the middle scale to read your power output.
Talkbacks are gay but if you like to hear yourself talk you can turn up the volume for it on the talkback knob.
That ought to about cover everything. oH sqweeze the mic if you want to talk, rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I like talk back solely for the purpose of being able to adjust your echo and reverb!
BTShepp Thanks this. -

Very nice radio to inherit, lucky guy.

Okay couldnt find a manual either so here it goes ;
RF Power - used to increase or decrease your transmit Rf Power (1-4 watts)
Dimmer - used to turn up or down backlighting for day/night driving.
RF Gain - used to just the gain of incoming signals (usual used to turn down the background noise to better understand a weaker station.
Mic Gain - used to turn down the sound of your voice to those that are listening to your transmitted audio, used to keep background noise out in loud operating environments.
Volume - pretty self explanatory
Squelch - turns off audio to a set level when signals are not received
Tone - Adds base or Treble to your received audio.
USB/LSB - upper and lower 'slivers' of each channel or frequency. Mode of transmission that will sound like charlie brown's parents when you are on AM and others are using SSB (single side band ). Mostly used on channel 15 and channels 30-40. AM is what is used on ch19.
CB-PA-GNF switch - In cb mode , or PA mode (public address when equipped with speaker. GNF is a noise filter mode that will reject noise that you may get from other electronics, power lines, or your vehicle ignition and background noise.
NB/ANL - Filters that help filter out vehicle ignition noise and other sources of noise.
SWR/ Mod/ Pwr switch - Puts your level meter into one of these 3 functions. SWR to check your antenna match (preferably 2 or less on the meter). Mod describes the amount of modulation that transfers from the mic that you speak into to the transmit audio processor (preferable peaks 80-100%). PWR transmit power in watts (needle on standard legal units will be halfway at 4-5 watts normal when transmitting).
Clarifier - this works in conjunction with USB and LSB to slightly adjust the receive frequency to better 'tune in' the person you are listening to (this is because not all radios are on frequency either transmit or receiving).
Talkback - this is used when either making adjustments to your transmit audio settings (mic gain), or if you just like to hear yourself. It is an audiosampling of your voice from the processor the way others here you, if this is turned up too loud you well create 'squeel' (oscillations) that will make others want to plug there ears.(this is hard on your transmit circuitry if done for too long and may damage the radio).
hope this helps. -
whoops sombody already explained it .. should have read the other posts.

Man that was an excellent post ! Lots of good info there ! I crack up when I hear a driver say he's going to "turn up his squelch" so he can get out further ! LOL -
