I was issued a 2014 Freightliner. There is an antenna cable inside the mounting area. I connected the C.B. and the weather band works buy the C.B. don't. There is no external antenna on the truck. Does anyone know if the antenna is hidden under the fiberglass body somewhere or do I need to mount my own antenna? And If I have to mount an antenna where can I find a mounting kit for the large plastic mirror bracket?
I found part of my answer, the antenna is inside the body of the vehicle. Know I just have to figure out how to get my C.B. working.

google bird perch antenna mount. Or search these threads about Freightliner antenna solutions. The bird perch with 2 bolts is more stable than the single one.
bowhunter3714 Thanks this. -
I saw the 2 bolt one on eBay for about $25. Haven't seen one in the truckstop yet.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

the antenna system is in the roof on our 2014 models. it completely sucks. it's the same multi-plex am/fm/tv/cb as in previous years just mounted out of sight in the roof.
reception is terrible compared to previous years. my 2013 I could get out a couple miles on the cb and get great tv reception. now I can do good to get out a mile and had to buy an antenna amplifier for my tv.
not someone's better idea in design that's for sure. -
I'm going to find the adaptor and mount my antenna as soon as I get a chance, Thanks for the Info.

They sell the "bird perch" mounts at Loves now. $20 i think. Maybe $18.99

There's a Wilson one that I have seen, can't remember where exactly, either PFJ or Loves, and it bolts into the front mounting holes of either mirror. I'm using something heavier duty with a seven foot whip, and that works better for me.
I routed the coax around the adjacent door hinge and under the hood and through a spot in the back of the speedometer housing and from there up the a-pillar and across to the cubbyhole, which is a good fit for the larger CB radios like the Cobra 29 series, the Uniden 78s/ 880/980. and similar sized radios. I'm running a 980 now.bowhunter3714 Thanks this. -
I found it at a Love's. I was going to upload a pic for others to see but I always seem to have trouble with that.
Thanks everyone for the help.
