| I doubt an echo board installed inside the unit will void the type acceptance. The board is electrically still between the mic & mic input to the radio. There may be an issue where the rules say you can't transmit anything designed only to be an "attention getter" or for use in malicious interfering. I find it odd they would specify an "attention getter" when tone access was allowable to alert someone on the receiving end that they were called. Go figger? There's evidence, as depicted in some radio broadcasting journals & texts, that a small amount of echo actually enhanced the recovered audio in a way to make it easier to hear the station better in weak signal areas. As I recall, empirical testing showed that 30% or less modulation of the most pronounceed echos as the best setting to enhance the intelligeability of the weak signal. I doubt anyone sets their echo boards for anything below 30%. That's why you continually have to ask "What'd he say?" I'd rather put in a 150-200 watt amplifier to make myself heard in the distance. Done correctly, no one says huh? What'd he say? |
