Does anyone actually use...or even hook up a PA with their CB? If so, what would you use it for? Also, do CBs have built in speakers or do you have to order an external one?

Ive never seen a CB radio that doesnt have an internal speaker, so chances are any cb you buy will have an internal speaker, and depending on what you drive it will be plenty loud, The PA System, i know my bud uses his just for fun... i dont know how much use you can really get out of it except just a neat little gadget

Like Willy said, you will get a big improvement with an external speaker, mounted where you can hear it better.

Depends on what your driving... if your driving a passenger car as opposed to a truck, the internal speaker should be more than fine.... if you have an even close to decent radio

I've seen shops use a PA speaker on a CB, and when I was young, a friend of mine had a PA speaker and CB mounted in his car, it was great for laying down in the backseat and telling the crazy homeless people to "Built a Ark":biggrin_25523:

I have had a PA speaker mounted under the hood of my truck for ten years or so. It is not extremely loud, but when the truck is off, you can hear it very clearly.

I like it because when the switch on the radio is set to PA, it will monitor the channel over the PA, so I can listen for my buddies when they are approaching from outside of the truck.

I go to alot of ports and docks and I use mine to talk to the people on the docks like to see where they want me to pull up. Them they can just motion to me instead of walking over and then walking back.

I used to have a 40w PA speaker plugged into my Realistic. More for fun, but can be more attention-getting than just using a horn. Going through Oklahoma City, I had lumpers jumping onto my running boards as I approached a receiver. I said "no thanks" via the PA and accelerated until they jumped off.

    Like sharks... ya know?
