    I already have the 148, and I am thinking of using a kicker with it. I'm just wondering if the Galaxy 979 with an RFX-150 would be a better option?

    I think any radio you choose you would be better off with an external kicker one that is for ssb radios such as the 959 and 148 the rfx kicker are more for your standard cb and 10 meter rigs without ssb
