I just heard via QRZ that Coconino County, AZ will revisit their recently-passed ordinance "banning" the use of two way radio and will specifically exempt Amateur Radio from their law! This is supposed to occur at their June 24 Board of Supervisors' meeting! This would, I presume, include CB operators as well!!!!:yes2557: They HAVE been advised in a polite way that such restrictions are not legal, and that FCC is the sole authority over two way radio via the Communications Act of 1934! I am still working on my Petition with a slight pause to recover from some dental work! (OUCH!) Stay tuned. We must stay on top of such local regulations as they will be more local jurisdictions, ignorant of the Federal laws, who pass needless and arbitrary "laws" restricting our radios. So far, its been ten for ten as such laws, alerted by the amateur and CB community, have been stricken. Examples? Delaware and Palmdale (or Palm Desert) CA who attempted to "ban" the use of mobile two way, and found that it was, apparently, not a good idea! Palm Desert went so far as to ban ANY use of amateur or CB radio within their city limits.....and got threatened with lawsuits AND FCC.

Keep our eyes open, boys and girls!:biggrin_2552:

Get your truckers' associations INVOLVED! Present a UNITED front! Tell Arizona that truckers will not do business there and will avoid going thru their state. When their supermarket shelves start getting BARE, and their stomachs growl, see how long their little "ban" lasts. Nothing says you HAVE to go thru AZ, and they can't MAKE you! The ONLY thing the locals can get you for is causing "interference" via the amendment to the FCC regs in 2000, or using illegal or modified radios, NOT for the mere USE of a CB! All it needs is a test in Federal court where precedent, tradition, & FCC oversight has prevailed since WWII. Your truckers' associations have lawyers, right? You pay dues to them (if you are a member), right? Put 'em to WORK!:biggrin_25525::yes2557:

We the people have been LOSING freedoms for far too long. This is nothing but a paradise for the liberal CONTROL FREAKS, and a way to make us walk in lockstep with their false ideology! Little by little bit, small step by small step, under the guise of "good", our self-governance is being chipped away. Naturally, they can't just walk in and take, for example, your guns, they can't really stop you from praying, or voting, but they CAN, by using things that sound oh-so good, begin with "little" things....like seat belt laws. I, for one, believe in seat belts--and would wear them (and did) if it was NOT a law. Whether we realize it or not, we are being gradually conditioned to accept restrictions on our personal freedoms and choices. All these things (seat belts, GUN control, whether or not you can use a radio).....ALL are being used as a method of conditioning so we will accept such theft of personal choice by the Left. I'm sure we've all heard the phrase "Politically 'correct'"! The first thing I thought of when I first heard that saying was, "'Correct' by WHOSE opinion"?

Two way radio is NOT the culprit here; the CELLPHONE IS! AS I agree that a certain level of regulation is necessary for a functioning society, I do NOT agree that that which is NOT 'guilty' should be lumped in with that which IS! :( If we follow that flawed logic then EVERYTHING about driving would have to be "banned"! No music radio, no changing the A/C, no moving the seat, HEY! NO DRIVING!!!!!:biggrin_25510:

Such an idea of banning everything is just plain ridiculous. America was founded on a foundation of hard work, determination, and SELF-determination! It requires responsibility on the part of every American. That includes DRIVING. Let's NOT give that away, too!:biggrin_25512:

If they ban truck drivers from using their CB's, perhaps the police should also be banned from using their police radios.Ah, but let's see how long THAT one lasts.

If things don't change pretty soon, the privileges and rights you are going to lose in the not to distant future will make this seem like chicken feed. (And that is as political as I'm gonna get on here.)
