language barrier? please do whatever you desire to do. regarding radios, mine works, very well, and i am not on here soliciting/begging for help in getting mine up and walking the dog. i am merely offering what i know works for me and my practical applications.not sure what you keep pushing.

i can't argue with one that knows nothing and freely admits it.you can't comprehend the english language in it's most basic rendition so i'll cease my attempt. get professional help for your cb,apparently the forum isn't working for you.sorry. carry on with your radio wannabe-ing-

A "pre-tuned" antenna just means it's pre-tuned from the factory to be within limits of not frying your radio...Doesn't mean it can't be tuned even better once installed...Lot's of guys like the "Plug and Play" antenna's because they don't want to take the time to try and get the most out of their radios, and as long as they can talk a couple miles down the street, their Happy Campers...

Bonding of the vehicle also go's a long way getting antenna's to tune better and get the most out of them...

Coax you use to run from a CB Radio to one antenna needs to be 50 ohm coax (regardless of the length you use) It will say 50 ohm on the side of the coax. (RG 58, RG 213, LMR 400, LMR 240 RG mini-8 these are all 50 ohm coax's)

If your going to use 2 antenna's (co-phase one antenna on each mirror) then you need to be using what they call a "Co-phase harness", most CB Shops and truck stops sell these...Basically what they are is two 9' pieces of 75 ohm coax that are tied together with about a foot of coax that connects to the back of your radio...sorta like having two coaxs connected to a T-connector but not regular 50 ohm coax...And you have to have both antenna's hooked up all the time...If you were to take one antenna off (maybe because one got broke) then it would throw your SWR way off, so be sure to always have two antenna's using a co-phase harness...

I'm sure there's a easier way to tune a co-phase set-up, but the way I have always done it, was get everything hooked up then using either a SWR Meter or something like a MFJ 259 Antenna Analyzer, check and see where your SWR is at, just sticking everything together...Then start with one antenna and move the stinger up or down checking the meter each time you move the stinger...

Adjust the stinger on one antenna, then do the same thing on the other and see if your SWR is improving or getting worse...If it gets worse, then you know you need to move the stingers in the opposite direction!

Don't know much about that mount you posted...Look's like some type of extension.

I wouldn't recommend lower shafts on a open coiled antenna (like the Predator 10K) to be longer than 17" (12" would be better), mounting on mirror brackets...The coil dose catch allot of wind, and mirror mounts tend to get loose after a while...plus having a couple feet of aluminum pipe sticking up in the air on a mirror mount, is just begging for some low tree limb to whack it off.

That article's been around for quite a while...And there's several more out there, yet people still think coax lengths mater in a one antenna set-up...It's like Mobile installs have one rule of thumb when it comes to lengths, but the same rule doesn't apply for Base antenna set-up's?

Snow crab..Go research the amount off loss on different coax...Usually its over a 100ft length..Lol doubt you will need that much unless you got a hell of a long rig or truck..If memory is correct loss is very little on some of the quality stuff..

Pre tuned antenna..lol...There is a tune in the ant maybe but everything made today can be tweeked..

Jessejames...Yeah im aware of the tuning and use of co phased stuff....Usually i use the factory trk stuff with a new truck then as crap happens i would use single coax and ant..

That ant mount i posted a pic of was something i found online by fluke,no idea how it will stand up to any use...

For now on my volvo i got a 18" shaft made for my duel coil predator 10k..
I use same nic on cbrt forum as well so we have chatted a lil..

X1..Dont know what your referring to as a language barrier..I have been speaking english all my life bud..Im simply disagreeing with your 18 ft coax theory,as for a pre tuned ant thing i just dont believe its possible..Any ant can be pre tuned to a point but it needs tweeking when installed..

If you were to take your ant off your car/truck ect and mount directly to mine assuming there is no moisture, dirt, rust ect its not gonna be the same #'s...IT will need tweeking to set with my radio and such...

Another perfect example is with the cascadias...All else being equal, moveing your ant to a cascadia is gonna work but not as good as it can without some tweeking..

Anyways im done discussing the issue cause i can see a storm a brewin with this so ill finish my comment here and now..

So what happens now if you change cars or trucks and you need longer or shorter coax, how does the 18 ft theory work then..

    jessejamesdallas Thanks this.

I'm done with this thread tho...time to sit back and read the mail.
