SleepysRose Thanks this.

The problem with buying a used CB is that there is a very good chance that they've been screwed up, er, "tuned up" by Bubba with his Magic Screwdriver, and it'll cost extra to put it back in shape.
Turbo-T Thanks this. -
Radios only get so loud. Over modulated radios are like fingernails on a chalkboard or a tin can in a blender, they aren't any louder, they just get more attention from the tone deaf.
Listen carefully to the CB shop on the radio, most are butcher shops.SleepysRose and Kickstand-117 Thank this. -

"Breaker one nine can I get a radio check"
"It's in the mail driver"
"10-4 How's this radio sound driver"
"Like over modulated crap driver. Rodger?"
"...."
"Rodger?" -
Kinda back the hobby, and I've learned quickly that good tech is hard too find. I'm there are exceptions to the rule, but if they're drumming up biz on the radidio, then ignore it. Seems good techs, anymore, people mail them their work....even several states away.. -

I actually have a Cobra 148GTL with sound tracker. When I key it makes a whining sound. So, I'm looking for another radio until I can get it looked at. I'm leaning towards a 29 with Bluetooth.

Currently the best price for a new CB is at T/A and Petro during the months of July and August 2014. You buy a Cobra 29 Classic for $99.99 plus tax. After a mail in rebate you get $30 back. So it will be a net of $70 plus tax for a new Cobra 29 Classic with a warranty.
