1.7 is fine but i would be going crazy until i got it to at least 1.3 as there is a difference might be small but its there i also ran a monkeymade and had mine at 1.2 across all channels for your cascadia get the one with the longest shaft as you want the coil as high as possible.

I have the 22 inch shaft I've been trying to find a cb shop that sells just the 24 or 27 inch shaft for the predator but I may have to order it online cause the shops usually want to sell me an entire antenna

I have a wilson 2000 with the 2 bolt bird perch mount. It only has a 5 inch shaft and the swr's are running 1.8. Would going to a 10 inch shaft be better or should I just get a 5 foot fiberglass antenna?

On what? A Cascadia? If so that is pretty good. I tried a Wilson on a Cascadia, 10" shaft and 18" shaft. Never did get a good SWR.

Yes a cascadia, but I don't seem to get very good range with it. I have a uniden 880,. I was just wondering if a fiberglass antenna would serve better with this application. Also the swr meter I have is an old workman and not sure how accurate it is.

You really need more than 10" of shaft. The long-shaft, open-coil antennas are best for these trucks. Fiberglass will show a decent SWR but is simply not as good as having bare metal in the air.

My 5.5' Francis also showed a 1.3 SWR. Despite the SWR being the same once I got my Monkey-Made tuned down, range improved significantly.

The francis 5 ft. whip (bang for the buck)is about as good as it gets it is just so fragile one limb or bridge strike can take it out.

102 is cheaper and better, but a little bit more difficult to mount. I have seen Cascadias with them, though.
