Any comments? It's where I'm headed for a 34 hour reset. Need to have my CB fixed so that I don't blow it up I guess. I know nothing of CB's, just want it to work and for it not to burn up when I use it. Will these guys at least treat an idiot fair? And do quality work for the price?

TJ's a good guy. His prices are slightly more than others, but he does good work. He'll bench your radio free of charge and does all his work right there in front of the customer.

Yea my experience there with TJ was great. They have a family atmosphere going on there, 3 of them, I didn't ask but I believe the woman was his girlfriend, and the younger guy was his little brother. They all came out and explained to me what all my options were and how I'd benefit from them. I did spend quite a bit more money than I expected, but the radio's working great now. Had an issue with the coaxial cable the first day after they did the work, tried to fix it myself but couldn't. Took it back the next afternoon since I still had time on my 34 and they re-ran a new coaxial free of charge, then they double checked it all as well as used my meter to check the swr's, and apologized for the bad coaxial cable. I thought I had screwed it up, still don't know if I did or not but they took full responsibility even if I had which I thought was pretty cool. Definitely recommend them to anyone passing through. TJ seems like a great guy to go have a beer with.

I'm going by today to have them evaluate my galaxy dx 979 that I bought from a disreputable golden screwdriver. I need piece of mind and to know what this old nut did to this box. Does TJ have a scope? One of the gurus here said the guy must have a scope.

This is how most 10 meter export radios look right out of the box. This looks like a good waveform but look up overhead at the spectrum analyzer and you'll see all the bleed over. A scope is only half the battle[IMG]

This is how it should look when properly tuned and aligned[IMG]

TJ's had no scope. They were overpriced, and the daughter Sunshine was lazy. TJ was helpful, but said all galaxies are trash.

Won't be going back. Another driver said on the other side of 95 between the flying j and my fuel is the guy who got TJ started and actually uses a scope.

But, next time I but a radio it will be a 10 meter that'll get for myself for obtaining my HAM license. I haven't decided on which yet. But nobody is going to open it up. I've learned the hard way.

That's a pretty safe policy. I wouldn't exactly be that extreme because I've seen what my technician can do to an Icom 7000. But 99% of the time I would totally agree I wouldn't let anybody touch a nice high dollar Ham rig.

Here's a really good rule of thumb. ( and I just made this up ) If a ham guy is unwilling to let a technician work on his high dollar rig why would you want that technician to work on your CB or export radio?
