Generally Americans are not known to be multilingual. In fact many American born Truck drivers can be quite brutal to our foreign quest on the cb radio. For the past four years, I have been encouraging foreign drivers to use the cb. Most are hesitant due to their having language barriers or fear of being ridiculed. It is high time this uncivilized nationalist and beastly behavior from some American drivers stop! With the many regulations proposed and implemented over the years supposedly to encourage safety, we are still faced with dangers in doing this job. Drivers being murdered, bad roads and worse there are bad drivers being trained and pushed out on the road from these grind mills/driving schools (especially those big trucking companies).
So this is what I propose for our fellow drivers from different countries.

Nice thought. In practice though I have found that the foreign drivers either don't have a radio or keep it turned off. I speak fairly decent Russian and would love to chat with another Russki going down the road.
Here in Arizona I hear a lot of Mexican (don't call it Spanish- it's not, it's Mexican and there IS a difference) on 19. I don't really care for it, but since the channel is generally dead anyhow who's gonna stop them? -
12 is widely used by french Canadians, and why would english speaking canadians use channel 1 as per your channel guide, english is english
-
If I moved to Russia I would learn to speak Russian. Just saying.
HalpinUout, Balakov100, LGarrison and 8 others Thank this. -
Could just learn to speak English since you are here and it is required for the job.
semi retired semi driver, Mudguppy and LGarrison Thank this. -
I speak perfect english, I am french canadian my mother is american. I will speak language I want to with my friends. Just said why would ENGLISH speaking canadians go on channel 1 when ch19 is already english. Or do I have to be american to be on that channel. And yes we frenchmen use another channel so if you troll over to that channel and dont like it turn the knob
