Take all the advise you've been given about antenna's, and power. If you've still got money burning a hole in your pocket, I love the clarity on the Stryker brand. Connex, Ranger, Galaxy, etc... have been around forever tried and true.

Neither. I was just stating something I've observed. I've been "playing radio" for 33 years, and have observed many things in that time. Things that should work may not, and things that shouldn't work sometimes will. Antennas are as much "black art" as science. The point is that there is no such thing as two identical trucks.

This, however, could have been taken as an answer to your question:

If you're considering running a KL203 it is advisable to have some sort of adjustable power output on the radio your going to use with it. These little amps don't like a high dead key going into them! All that is needed is about a 1 watt dead key and these little amps will swing pretty nice. Years ago during the last skip cycle I ran a Galaxy 77HML through a KL203 with a Wilson 2000 antenna. With the Galaxy set at a 1 watt dead key on low power the amp would swing 80-100 watts on AM and 180-200 watts on SSB! Talked all over with that setup! Just don't ratchet jaw with that amp 'cause they get HOT in a hurry!

So do I with a couple watts.

Not sold on the 570 thing you have as quality, or the double stack cake thing for that matter - sounds like a harmonica to me.

I didn't like the 570 I had, it wasn't that good on AM when I was on 80, no matter what I did.
