Hard to narrow down with the small amount of info supplied so far. But just for S&G, disconnect the antenna lead from the back of the radio and see if the same thing happens.

Is the radio mounted tightly to chassis ground? Where are you getting power and ground for the radio from now? Is the noise always there, or only when engine running/wipers/fan motors/etc.

And since we don't know anything about your radio experience yet, is the squelch set right at threshold, or all the way one way or the other?

take a piece of wire, find a ground somewhere in the truck and attach it from that ground directly to the radio - see what happens. It sounds like you have a floating ground issue with the radio. Any wire will work, even speaker wire.

The radio is in a Columbia, overhead in the hole that Freightliner designed for a CB. I turn the squelch to get rid of the static and then I don't get reception.
