Nice LP, btw. I play mostly Fender & Carvin basses.

No worries. I get asked quite often why I spend so much in radio equipment and believe it or not it has nothing to do with how "far" I get out. It's a hobby of mine and has been for quite some time. I purchased this Galaxy only because I wanted to see what I could run in my truck safely without burning it down, lol. Well that and to be able to talk skip occasionally.

Fenders are buttery smooth when it comes to their necks. I like Gibson cause of the weight and humbuckers. To be honest I love all musical equipment and manufacture, if it makes noise I'm happy with it. lol

Nice. The "butteriest" neck I have is on my Carvin 5-string fretless, ebony fingerboard and all. But I digress; I'm old, I do that.

I think you'll find that when the band is open, and *if* you can find a channel that's not already jammed from wall to wall with lots of stations, you can do amazing things with low power. When you're hearing signals from all over the country, PLUS Central America, that the difference between 4 or 5 watts and 120 won't be enough to make your signal cut through. That's one difference between Amateur Radio & CB: a virtually infinite of frequencies are available, and there's nearly always *someplace* on the band that's not occupied; that's where you call CQ, or listen for someone else to find the spot and call CQ. Communications discipline is, I believe, part of the reason for the Watt Wars on CB -- trying to cut through *other* folks who're running as much power as their alternator(s) can supply -- or the 220 VAC at the house running their linears.

That wall of sound, to misuse Jimi's backline descriptor, is made of a combined RF density in the tens of millions of watts, taken together. A couple of hundred watts being thrown into that huge cacophony of silliness, will be as a pharte in a windstorm. Or an original Champ against a stage full of Marshall JCM 900s in stacks. FWIW, Ozzy says he learned never to stand in front of Geezer's stack because of the f'n volume :) Speaking of which, I long for the days when a Vox Foundation Bass or an Ampeg B-15N was more than enough to hold its own against a couple of Princeton Reverbs or Champs in a band with un-amped drums. <sigh> I'm old.

But I digress; I'm old, and I'm wont to do that.
But I digress. Oh, did I just say that? I'm sorry, I'm old, and prone to digress........

I have a Connex 3300-300, and have had it for years...I won't speak much about details, but I don't have any issues with in-truck devices catching interference, however I do have issues turning off/restarting computers at fueling stations, intercepting cell phone calls nearby, and opening ranch gates...it's always been a toy, and does just that...and I can talk to almost anyone I desire :)

Long story short, I agree, it's an issue with the last golden screwdriver possibly being silver...

I had an issue where all my gauges would go crazy, abs, and loss of traction light would come on often when I keyed up. I was convinced it was because my coax ran thru the area where all my other wires were. Nope. It was a result of a radio I got from a friend that I later found out was "clipped or snipped" by a golden screwdriver. I run a connex hp3300 (with much more power) now and the issue is gone

......or merely lead, polished to look like silver. Kinda like polishing a t**d, one might imagine :-O

It sounds sort of as if you suffer from G.A.S. ("Gear Acquisition Syndrome"). Same thing happens in this house. The little woman, or "She Who Must Be Obeyed" has learned that the proper answer to expect from me any time she asks, "Just how many basses and amps do you need, anyway?" is *always* "Just one more, Honey." :)
