Is there some kind of grease/paste which used to improve contact between mount and body? Or just sand, clean inside contact area and tighten? Should I reinforce roof somehow, like extra 2x2 inch piece of metal between roof and mount(inside the car)?
What other parts of "installed correctly" should I keep in mind?
Thank you.
Good/bad cb shops in central NJ?

Just short update. I decided to go with magnet mount for now just to see whether I like it or not(and not drill hole in the roof).
Radio seems to be working as expected. Thanks to all of you for advises, including driver, who checked radio in my car after it was bench checked and antenna tuned(cut) at Newport Bay on Rt 18 in East Brunswick, NJ. Would I recommend Newport Bay or not? I would neither recommend nor not recommend( I did not have enough time to decide). -
Hi all,
Another question. It seems, like I do not hear as much as I did before on my radio in the last week or so, at first I thought may be there was season of skips or something, I have heard transmissions from LA, TX guys(as they said), but last week it got really quite, not even static and I can hear just rare transmissions with good quality(someone close to me?). Who could diagnose what's is going on(I talked couple times without antenna, but other than that everything is the same)? Is air really slow lately or did I burn something in my radio by chance?
Sorry for funny description.
Thanks in advance. -
Your not receiving correctly, if your cruising around the Nj area there is always chatter on 27.185 ch.19.

Thank you Largecar359.
I was hoping someone would point me in the right direction(you've burnt your final(or something), repair would cost $XX or just buy a new one). -
I talked 15 miles from Santa Monica California out to downtown LA will a 4 watt radio back in the eighties off an 8 inch rubber ducky antenna attached to a ball mount bolted to the roof of my 1970 Ford Ranchero .
QUOTE="Big_m, post: 4258745, member: 34203"]A small antenna does not work very well on the CB band. For the most past you will only get 12 miles or less. And a small antenna you may get about 1-3 miles. What vehicle are you installing this?[/QUOTE]
